Open steppe, sandy ground and disturbed land
The Mongolian racerunner is a slim, fast-moving lacertid with a pointed head, long tail and well-developed limbs. Its brown or olive back carries pale longitudinal lines and rows of dark, light-centred spots; the exact pattern varies with age and population. The belly is pale. It can be separated from broad-headed agamas by its smooth, streamlined form and from other Eremias only with close attention to scale and pattern details. (Wikipedia, Eremias argus account)
Mongolian racerunners inhabit open steppe, sandy patches, field margins and other sunny ground in Mongolia, China, Korea and adjoining Russia. They are active by day, basking near shelter and sprinting into holes or vegetation when threatened. Small insects and other invertebrates are hunted on the ground, and females lay eggs. The opened species account did not support a named Mongolian viewing site, exact clutch size or local seasonal dates, so those details are omitted. (Wikipedia, Eremias argus account)
