The grey-crowned goldfinch, also called the eastern, Himalayan or grey-capped goldfinch, is 10.5–14 centimetres long with a wingspan of 21.5–25.5 centimetres, weighing about 15–21 grams. The male has brighter and more extensive red on the face and brighter yellow on the wing than the female, which appears to be the only notable difference between the sexes. Both sexes have a pinkish bill. (Wikipedia, general species account)
The juvenile lacks the red in the face, has faint streaking on the breast and buffish tips to the coverts and tertial markings, and has duller, darker legs than the adult's pink to dull brown ones. This small finch is distributed throughout Central Asia and the Himalayas. (Wikipedia, general species account)
