Przewalski's wonder gecko is a robust desert gecko with a broad head, large lidless eyes and conspicuously enlarged, overlapping scales. The tail is thick and covered by plate-like scales that can produce a rustling sound when moved. Its pale sandy ground colour carries darker bands or blotches, helping it disappear against desert substrates. Fragile skin and a readily shed tail are additional defences, so animals should never be handled. (Reptile Database; Wikipedia, wonder gecko overview)

The species occurs in Mongolia and northern China in sandy or gravelly desert with sparse vegetation. It spends the day in a burrow and emerges after dark to hunt small invertebrates on the surface. Eggs are laid on land, and seasonal activity is restricted by the region's cold winters. The opened species material did not establish a named Mongolian viewing site, clutch size or local emergence calendar, so those details are not inferred from other Teratoscincus geckos.
