Size

10–11cm

The two-barred warbler is about 10–11 centimetres long, with a compact body and a relatively large head. It is greenish above and white below, with a pale supercilium bordered in dark and mostly two thin, clearly separated wing bars: one on the greater coverts reaching to the scapulars, the other clearly shorter and narrower on the median coverts. The bill is dark above and pale below. (German Wikipedia, general species account)

A monotypic songbird of the leaf warbler family, it breeds in central and eastern Siberia and is a very rare autumn visitor to Europe. Its German name honours the Baltic German zoologist Alexander Theodor von Middendorff, and the species epithet means lead-coloured underside of the feet in Greek.
