Nikolai Przhevalsky described it in 1887. It lives mainly in Mongolia, in semi-arid mountains, and also in Ningxia, the bordering region of China, in the Tengger Desert and the Helan Mountains. It is discreet and thinly spread, and is the least known of the accentors: very little is known of its behaviour, diet or breeding. (French Wikipedia, general species account)
