The Asiatic grass frog is a brown, long-legged true frog with a pointed muzzle, dark temporal mask and prominent folds running along either side of the back. The upperparts may be tan, reddish or grey-brown with darker spots, while the belly is pale. Toes are partly webbed but lack expanded adhesive discs. It resembles other Rana closely, so call, locality and detailed proportions may be needed for confident field identification. (Wikipedia, Rana chensinensis account)

This frog uses moist grassland, woodland edge, stream valleys and cultivated landscapes in northern China and adjoining parts of Asia. Adults forage on land for insects and other small invertebrates but breed in ponds, pools and quieter water. Eggs form gelatinous masses and tadpoles complete development before leaving the water. The opened source did not provide enough evidence for a Mongolian locality, national breeding schedule or local habitat claim, so these remain general species-level notes.
