Mustela sibirica
Habitat
Forest, forest-steppe, and open habitats
Range
Palearctic Asia, including Mongolia
The Siberian weasel is a medium-sized Asian mustelid with a distinctly elongated narrow head, short broad-based ears, short legs, and a tail about half the head-and-body length. Winter fur is dense and soft, and Mongolian animals belong within the broad northern form whose coat is generally light yellowish-red. White around the lips and chin contrasts with the warmer body colour. (Abramov et al. 2018; Wikipedia, general species account)
Its natural range crosses Palearctic Asia from the Urals to the Russian Far East and extends south through Mongolia, China, Korea, the Himalayas, and parts of Southeast Asia. It occupies both wooded country and open ground, so habitat alone is not diagnostic. The species-level account describes an adaptable predator intermediate in build and hunting style between small weasels and larger polecats. Mongolia-specific viewing localities were not identified in the opened sources. (Abramov et al. 2018; Wikipedia, general species account)
