Yolyn Am is a narrow gorge within Gobi Gurvansaikhan, famous for shade, lingering ice and an abrupt transition from desert basin to cool mountain ravine. Lammergeiers and other raptors patrol the cliffs, while ibex use broken slopes above the visitor path. The gorge can become busy in summer, so an early visit is worthwhile. Scan ridgelines before entering, then watch quietly around talus and cliff ledges without approaching resting animals.
